Oeil

Oeil is a Tokyo-based indie rock band incorporating alternative rock and shoegaze influences into their sound. The band consists of Takafumi Hibino, who handles lyrics, composition, arrangement, production, and guitar, and Mitsuko Hoshino on vocals.
The band gained significant recognition within the international shoegaze community when their album Urban Twilight was ranked No. 43 on the British culture media Far Out Magazine’s list of "The 50 Best Shoegaze Albums of All Time"—notably being the only Japanese artist included in the selection.
Their music has built a global listener base through placements on prominent playlists, including Spotify’s official Shoegaze Now. Oeil has shared stages with distinct international acts such as Ulrich Schnauss and Buzz Kull, while also performing alongside numerous other foreign indie and shoegaze bands, establishing deep connections within the global shoegaze and dream-pop scenes.
In 2025, they released the album Dream within a Dream, which expanded their international distribution with official releases and positive reception across three countries, including the United States and Indonesia.
"Laced with distortion and delay, the opener ‘Strawberry Dream’ delivers dense shoegaze atmospherics. It’s a short yet transcendent EP that is ready to feast your ears any minute."
