SOFT LIGHTING

アルバム全体を被うダークで頽廃感を帯びた「Bodies」「Dangerous」「July」「On The Nod」「Midnight Rendezvous」。

Biography:

Soft Lighting, a solo project by Kansas-based musician/producer Brian Cox, blends various music genres like electropop, chill wave, shoegaze, new-wave, and even Italo-disco. But everything revolves around the core comprised of his whispering voice and vintage synth sound. Soft lighting’s knowledge of music and unique talents extends the boundary of his work. He released materials from AMdiscs, the fashion brand label at the forefront of the vapor-wave movement and recently he started work with P On the Boards, who is the “in house” producer of A$AP Mob’s “Bath Salts” and “Coke and White Bitches.” His latest album, Portraits, has the characteristics of the vapor-wave atmosphere, taking over his previous Slow Motion Silhouettes‘ dreamy and mellow flavor. The album may remind listeners of a Early 90s SF movie set in a dogmatic and decadent metropolis. While the lead track “Breakdown” is a catchy pop song, other dark gloomy tunes like “Bodies” or “Dangerous” dominate the album’s atmosphere and make people experience a trip to a Cyber-punk world. Soft Lighting and P On The Boards recorded their first collaborative track “All Our Lives”, a melancholic and quite dope song, for Japanese edition of Portraits.
